3.      People who want chemicals go to a physical marketplace (MI) which is housed in a two-story building. As well as the surrounding area

4.      Most of chemical businessmen do business in old Dhaka which is congested and takes time to go.

5.      The chemicals are kept in go downs and office cum storage which is unsystematic.

6.      For this reason, many times fires have in the past has burned many shops, affected and also people have died. Last fire was in early 2021.

 

Factors Driving Chemical Imports:

Several factors drive the consistent influx of chemical imports into Bangladesh. These include technological advancements requiring specialized materials, compliance with international quality standards, and the need for raw materials to sustain burgeoning industries like pharmaceuticals, textiles, and agro-based sector

 

  

Government Initiate:

The Government has decided to move all chemicals in MI to outside Dhaka physically.

 

Transaction per day in MI

The per day transaction is in millions of US Dollars per day.

 

Chemical produce/manufacture

Bangladesh does not manufacture chemicals or have raw materials so imports mainly from China, India, Germany, and others. Chemical exporters can target Bangladesh.
